The Haeundae Sand Festival is set to return to Busan’s picturesque Haeundae Beach in the early days of summer, marking the unofficial start of beach season in South Korea. Known for being the only sand-related eco-festival in the country, the festival has become a summertime staple for visitors and locals alike.
Although the exact dates and theme for this year’s festival are yet to be announced, past festivals have taken place in late May or early June.
Visitors can expect to find a variety of sand-themed sport and fun recreational activities, such as sand sledding, beach volleyball, marathons and hot sand baths take place during Heundae Sand Festival.
The highlight of the festival, however, is the beautiful sand sculptures that are created by master sculptors from all over the world. These intricate and imaginative works of art are a must-see for anyone visiting the festival and a great opportunity to admire the artistry and creativity of the local sculptors.
The day ends with a series of concerts and a spectacular fireworks display, which adds to the vibrant atmosphere of the festival. It’s an event not to be missed for anyone looking for an exciting and fun way to kick off the summer season.
