With the increasing popularity of sandboarding as a sport, National Parks across the region have started designating selected areas where sandboarding can be practiced away from vegetation.

Currently, the most popular sand surfing destination in South Australia is Little Sahara in Kangaroo Island, near Adelaide.

Yanerbie Sandhill – Streaky Bay

A beautiful sand dune area near Streaky Bay in South Australia.

Little Sahara – Kangaroo Island

Little Sahara is a dune system located on Kangaroo Island in Vivonne Bay

It consists of a naturally occurring, desert-like sand dune system roughly covering two square kilometres.

Sandboarding and sand tobogganing are the two main attractions of the park and a must if you visit the island, and this is the place to go for sandboarding near Adelaide.

Lincoln National Park – Eyre Peninsula

A natural reserve that overlooks Boston Bay, the largest natural harbour in Australia.

The park features diverse landscapes, including sheltered bays, offshore islands, limestone cliffs, sand dunes, and coastal vegetation.

Lincoln National Park is home to many native animals, such as kangaroos, emus, echidnas, and seabirds.

Coffin Bay National Park – Eyre Peninsula

A protected natural area that showcases the remote coastal scenery of Eyre Peninsula.

The park is famous for its oysters, which are harvested from the bay. The area supports a rich biodiversity, including dolphins, seals, sea lions, pelicans, and ospreys.

Fowlers Bay Conservation Park – Fowlers Bay
