Despite not being a desert destination, Ireland has quite a few sand surfing spots to offer and there is a small but very lively community of sandboarders near Wexford.
The Curracloe Sand Fest was held there as part of the Sandboarding World Tour in 2017.
Curracloe Beach – Wexford
Beach located about 10km north of Wexford and the main sandboarding hub of Northern Ireland. Dune Riders Ireland regularly organizes events there and has a shop that sells sandboards.
Sandboard Rentals & Lessons
The Surf Shack Ireland in Curracloe offers both sandboard rentals and sandboarding lessons. Cost for rental is €7 for one hour, €12 for 3 hours or €20 for full day. A 1 hour sandboarding / dune boarding lesson costs €35 for adults or €25 for kids up to age 16.
