The Little Sahara Recreation Area is a popular destination for sandboarding located in the Sevier Desert, part of the greater Salt Lake City area, en Utah.

About the Sevier Desert

The eastern border aligns with mountain ranges and valleys at the Great Basin perimeter, including the north-south Wasatch Range.

Named after the Sevier River, the river flows circuitously through the desert, eventually leading to Sevier Lake in the southwest. Entering the desert from the east, it flows west, turns southwest, then west again to reach Sevier Lake’s north end.

The Sevier Desert spans approximately 105 millas (169 kilómetros) north-south and 60 millas (97 kilómetros) ancho, covering much of the central-north Sevier River drainage and eastern Millard County.

The southeast section houses the Black Rock Desert volcanic field, featuring the notable Pahvant Butte from the Lake Bonneville era. los Área recreativa Little Sahara, a popular off-road vehicle spot, is in the northeast.

The desert landscape includes small mountain ranges, valles, flatlands, and reservoirs. It is home to Fumarole Butte, a 5,278 pies (1,609 metro) high formation, sobre 10 millas (16 kilómetros) east of the Drum Mountains.

If you’re coming from Eureka, travel south approximately 23 miles on Highway 6. This route takes you directly to the Little Sahara Recreation Area, making it a straightforward journey.
