Florida’s climate, characterized by hot, humid summers and mild winters, doesn’t lend itself to the formation of deserts.
Even though there are sand dunes in Florida, they are covered in vegetation and thus not suitable for sandboarding.
Once upon a time, Destin was home to Wildcat Mountain, a small sand hill that was a popular spot for sledding and sandboarding.
للأسف, as Destin grew and developed, Wildcat Mountain was transformed into a residential area and replaced by townhomes.
اليوم, it is not possible to sandboard in Destin nor anywhere else in Florida.

Sand Surfing in St. Augustine Beach
While traditional sandboarding might be off the table in Florida, in St. Augustin it is quite popular to go “sand surfing” up and down Butler Beach on what resembles skateboards.
Participants use a wheeled board, similar to a skateboard, to “surf” along the beach. It is different from sandboarding which involves riding down a steep dune with a sandboard (which does not have wheels).
