Alamogordo, NM – Tickets for the November Full Moon Hike at White Sands National Park will go on sale on September 27th at 8:00 BEN. This is the last opportunity to experience this unique event in 2023.

White Sands National Park is home to the world’s largest gypsum dunefield. Hiking under the full moon is a truly magical experience, as the dunes glow in the moonlight. Hikers will learn about the park’s unique ecosystem and hear stories from the park’s rangers.
Tickets for the Full Moon Hike tend to sell out quickly, so be sure to purchase yours early. Tickets can be purchased online at Recreation.gov or by calling (1-877) 444-6777.
In addition to the Full Moon Hike, White Sands National Park is also offering Sunset Strolls through October 7th. These strolls allow visitors to follow the park’s trails and view the New Mexico sun setting over the dunes. The event begins every day at 6:00 PM and continues until sunset.
White Sands National Park is located about 16 miles southwest of Alamogordo, New Mexico. The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset. Admission is $15 per adult and $7 per child for ages 6-12. Children under 5 are free.

This is your chance to enjoy the peace and serenity of this elusive environment and experience unique stories of the park. Full moon hikes are offered once a month, March through November, on the night before the full moon.

Tickets
Tickets are available two months before the day of the hike and must be purchased through Recreation.gov or by calling (1-877-444-6777). The tour capacity is limited, so it is important to purchase tickets early.
Plaats
Pre-registered participants will meet the ranger at the Dune Life Nature Trail, 30 minutes before the program begins.
Cost
In addition to the park entrance fee, there is a special program fee of $8 per person ages 16 and older and $4 per child ages 15 and younger.
Program Length
The program lasts approximately 1.5-2 uur.
Safety Information
Participants must be physically capable of walking a total of one mile on sand, up and down sand dunes. Children must stay close to parents.
Closed-toe shoes are required, and one liter of water per person is recommended.
Flashlights, headlamps, and flash photography are not allowed.
Other Information
The Dune Life Nature Trail is rated as moderate. It requires hikers to climb multiple steep dunes and walk on soft sand.
The trail is not stroller-accessible, and it is not recommended for those with impaired mobility or health concerns.
Pets are allowed on the hike, but they must be on a leash no longer than six feet and under physical control at all times.
Programs may be canceled due to public health conditions, weather, or missile range activities.
