An elderly woman was involved in a sandboarding incident on Moreton Island near Brisbane, resulting in her being airlifted to the hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred at a popular tourist site known as “The Desert” on Moreton Island, where tourists enjoy sliding on sand dunes with sandboards and toboggans.

The woman, aged in her 70s, suffered neck and shoulder injuries during the sandboarding accident at the Tangalooma Wrecks walking track on Moreton Island.

Emergency services responded to reports of the incident and dispatched a rescue helicopter to assist the injured woman.

Paramedics provided immediate medical attention to the woman before she was airlifted to the hospital for further treatment.

Despite the seriousness of the injuries, the woman was reported to be in a stable condition following the incident.
