Black Rock City, NV (Eylül. 5, 2023) — The exodus from Burning Man has officially begun, as organizers lifted the driving ban on Monday afternoon, and allowing some 70.000 festival attendees to start leaving the site.

The playa is still muddy in some areas, but drivers are advised to stay on hard-packed roads and out of standing water.

Burning Man was hit by an unexpected storm that brought 3 ile 4 months worth of rain within the span of 24 hours on Saturday. The flooding turned the playa into a muddy quagmire, making it difficult and dangerous for people to move around.

The Black Rock City airport has been closed for days due to the flooding. Yine de, it reopened earlier Monday. All passengers flying out of the BRC airport will be taken to Reno.

The exodus is expected to take several days to complete, as there is a high volume of traffic on the roads.

Attendees are being urged to delay their departure from Black Rock City until Tuesday, September 5th. This is to alleviate large amounts of exodus congestion throughout the day today, Monday, September 4th.

According to the Burning Man’s survival guide, “As of midday Monday 9/4, yaklaşık olarak 64,000 people remain on site.”

“As of 2pm Mon 9/4, Exodus operations have officially begun in Black Rock City. The driving ban has been lifted. Exodus wait times coming shortly. The playa is still muddy in some areas. Stay on hard-packed roads and out of standing water.”

A previously reported death at Burning Man has been ruled unrelated to the weather. The cause of death is still under investigation, but no further information has been made public.

The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office had announced on Saturday that the death happened “during this rain event” in northern Nevada, without releasing any further details. It has now been clarified that the death was not related to the heavy flooding that occurred at the site over the past couple of days.

The family of the victim has been notified by the authorities.
