サウジアラビア、労働不安の中ネオム建設にロボット工学を統合

As part of its ambitious Neom megacity project, Saudi Arabia has recently announced the deployment of robotic technology to enhance construction efficiency and address labor concerns.

The initiative comes in response to heightened scrutiny over worker safety and rights following reports of significant fatalities among laborers in the region.

アン ITV Documentary has recently claimed that over 21,000 workers have died as a result of poor labor conditions while working on the Saudi Arabia Vision 2030 initiative, which includes Neom.

Neom project, which includes the development of a groundbreaking 105-mile linear city known as The Line, is investing over 1 billion Saudi Riyals (約 $266.6 100万) in automated systems to support its construction efforts.

The large investment is part of a broader strategy to reduce reliance on manual labor, particularly in light of allegations surrounding worker mistreatment at construction sites across the kingdom.

Investment in Advanced Construction Technology

The integration of robotics is led by the NEOM Investment Fund (NIF), どれの has recently partnered with GMT Robotics, a European firm specializing in advanced construction technologies.

This collaboration aims to localize robotic technology within Saudi Arabia, with plans for rebar cages to be manufactured in Neom-based factories.

Majid Mufti, CEO of NIF, stated that this investment reflects NEOM’s commitment to driving transformative technologies that will unlock next-generation industries and create high-skilled jobs.

The robotic systems being deployed are expected to significantly enhance operational efficiency and workplace safety.

According to Ulrich Deichmann, CEO of GMT Robotics, the automation of rebar assembly could reduce manual workforce hours by up to 80%, while also lowering costs associated with cage assembly by approximately 40%.

The shift towards automation is seen as a necessary step in modernizing construction practices within the region.

Addressing Labor Rights Issues

The decision to incorporate robotics comes amid international criticism regarding labor rights in Saudi Arabia.

Reports indicate that 以上 21,000 workers from countries such as India, Bangladesh, and Nepal have died while working on various projects in the Gulf nation.

Despite claims from Saudi authorities about reforms intended to improve labor conditions, のような 2021 Labor Reform Initiative, many workers continue to face significant barriers when attempting to change jobs or seek better conditions.

The reality of widespread abuses raises questions about the effectiveness of these reforms and the commitment to ensuring worker rights.

The introduction of robotic technology is viewed as a potential solution to mitigate these concerns by reducing the number of laborers needed on-site.

GMT Robotics plans to implement automated rebar assembly systems that could decrease the need for manual labor by up to 90%, thereby minimizing exposure to hazardous working conditions.
