Reaching the Koocanusa Sand Dunes and Trail System is relatively straightforward from nearby major cities:

From Missoula:

Head north on US-93 N and continue onto MT-200 E. Follow MT-200 E for approximately 84 miles until you reach the town of Thompson Falls. From there, turn left onto MT-471 N and continue for about 12 miles. Finally, turn right onto Bull Lake Road, and after approximately 20 miles, you will arrive at the Koocanusa Sand Dunes and Trail System.


From Kalispell:

Take US-93 S and continue for approximately 45 miles. Then, turn right onto MT-40 W and follow it for about 19 miles.

Turn left onto MT-37 S and drive for approximately 47 miles.

Finally, turn right onto Bull Lake Road, and after approximately 20 miles, you will reach your destination.


From Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada:

Take BC-93 S and cross the US-Canada border. Continue onto US-93 S and drive for approximately 7 miles.

Then, turn right onto MT-37 S and follow it for about 47 miles.

Finally, turn right onto Bull Lake Road, and after approximately 20 miles, you will arrive at the Koocanusa Sand Dunes and Trail System.
